Three Phase Ice Maker

The three phase ice maker is
usually a free standing ice maker. It is usually used in commercial
areas such as restaurants, hotels and motels and various other
industries. What is needed in a three phase ice maker is a
refrigeration system, a water supply and a way of collecting the ice
that forms such as a large metal ice cube tray that is positioned
vertically.
The metal tray in the
three phase ice maker is connected
to coiled heat exchanging pipes. A compressor then drives a stream
of refrigerant fluid like freon through a narrow pipe, which is the
condenser, and then it is released to a wider tube which is the
evaporator, where it can expand. When the refrigerant is compressed, the
pressure is raised in which now the temperature increases. When the
refrigerant passed through the condenser coils on the three phase ice
maker, it will lose heat to the cooler air that is outside and will
then turn into a liquid. When this fluid passed through the expansion
valve, the liquid evaporates and now becomes a gas. During this
evaporation process on the three phase ice maker, heat energy is
drawn in from the metal pipes and the air around the refrigerant, thus
cooling the pipes and the metal ice tray.
The three phase ice maker also
has a water pump that draws water from a collection sump and then pours
it over the metal tray that is now chilled. Once the water pours over
the tray, it will freeze and will build up ice cubes in the well of the
tray. Once this takes place, the three phase ice maker will set
off a solenoid valve that is connected to the heat exchanging coils.
When this is done, the valve changes the path of the refrigerant. This
now forces the gas into a wide bypass tube in which the hot gas is then
cycled back to the evaporator and does not condense. This is the way
that loosens the ice cubes to slide out of the three phase ice maker.
Usually, the individual cubes are at a slant so they sometimes slide out
on their own into the collection bin.
The three phase ice maker
should be used with true three phase power to operate efficiently and
safely. This is where a true three phase converter comes into play.
Basically what a phase converter does, is convert the single phase power
source into three phase power. It does this by taking the three
circuits that are on the three phase converter system, which will carry
three alternating currents of the same frequency and they all reach in
instantaneous peak value at three different times. Each circuit in a
three phase power load then carries electrical current that operates in
three different phases. This results in a constant flow of electricity
giving the three phase ice maker a much better balance form of power.
This will eliminate any overheating and or breakdown to your equipment.
ACE
Phase
Converter has a wonderful true three phase converter that
has it's own 3-phase generator with power factor correction. This
is what makes it true three phase power. All of their phase converters
are tested and re-tested before they ever reach the consumer's hands.
They have been providing three phase solutions to millions, worldwide,
for over 25 years. They stand behind all of their products by
providing a 10 year warranty on them. You can't go wrong when you
purchase a phase converter from ACE Phase Converter. Your three
phase ice maker will operate safely and efficiently using one of
their phase converters.
