Three Phase Sander
A
three phase sander is a power tool that is used for smoothing
wood or wood finishes. Sandpaper is attached to the three phase
sander which does the smoothing of the wood while being electrically
powered. There are several different types of three phase sanders
available in the market today that are used for a variety of different
applications.
A disc
three phase sander consists of a
circular wheel that is covered with sandpaper which is spun
electronically. This type of three phase sander is basically used
to smooth wood objects to have smoother edges. To use, the wood is
pressed up against the spinning disc gently. A stroke three
phase sander is used as a large production sander. These are used
for projects like tabletops, doors and cabinets. The drum three phase
sander is a larger sander that uses a rotating sanding drum. It
works much like a planer where the operator adjusts the feed rollers and
then the wood is sent inside the machine. Once the drum sander smoothes
the wood, it sends it out the other side. This type of three phase
sander is used on large surfaces for finishing work. The wide belt
three phase sander is one of the largest of all three phase
sanders. It is very similar to a planer, however, it is much larger.
It uses a large sanding belt head and usually requires air from a
separate source to adjust the tension on the belt. This type of three
phase sander is used mainly in furniture shops or in large cabinet
factories.
A good three phase sander will
not vibrate too much. It will have some type of dust collection system
installed in the three phase sander. Most three phase sanders
will have a lever to push for belt tension and also have adjustable belt
alignment. The three phase sander should also have a variable
mode for light or heavy sanding along with a variable speed to adjust
for the woodworking project.
To operate the three phase sander,
three phase power should be used. You could spend thousands of dollars
by calling the utility company out to install three phase power, but a
phase converter can do the job even better and cost you much less to
obtain three phase power. If you purchase a true three phase converter
with a 3-phase generator with power factor correction, you are actually
obtaining better three phase power than the utility company can provide
you with. A true three phase converter will take your single phase power
source and convert it into three phase power. It does this by using it's
own motor to generate the third, high leg of power as well as passing on
the other two legs of power that is already provided by your single
phase power source. The phase converter is a good choice in working with
woodworking tools such as the the three phase sander. When using
a three phase converter, you can also power more than one piece of three
phase equipment at the same time.
